What's new at Luminary: December update

This month brings upgrades that make estate planning work clearer, faster, and easier to present. We’ve introduced Document Chat — a new way to ask follow-up questions and explore documents in context. You’ll also see improvements to table formatting, entity slides in client presentations, and a new AI-generated insight to help ensure trust assets are properly titled — all designed to help advisors deliver smarter, more tailored planning experiences at scale.

Meet Document Chat: A Smarter Way to Ask Questions
An evolution of Luminary’s industry-leading deep search capabilities, Document Chat introduces a new way to interact with estate planning documents — through an intelligent, context-aware chat experience. You can now ask follow-up questions, clarify complex provisions, and explore planning concepts within a single, AI-powered conversation.
This enables a faster, more intuitive way to review documents when preparing for meetings or aligning across teams.
To help you get started, we’ve introduced Suggested Questions — with prompts tailored to trusts, wills, business entities, POAs, and more. From “Is this a grantor trust?” to “Who are the fiduciaries?”, Document Chat helps you find the answer and uncovers deeper insights.
Simplify Trusts for Client Conversations
We’ve added a new system prompt that generates streamlined trust summaries — designed specifically for client-facing conversations. Using plain language, consistent formatting, and a focus on key details like trustees, beneficiaries, and distribution standards, these summaries help simplify complex documents without sacrificing accuracy. It's a faster way to turn legal depth into client clarity, and is now available to all users as an optional prompt when regenerating or creating new summaries.
Smarter Formatting with Enhanced Tables
We’ve upgraded table functionality in Luminary’s rich text editor to make structuring complex information faster and clearer. With new options to add or remove rows and columns, toggle header formatting, and customize layouts, it’s easier than ever to format planning notes, summarize strategies, and align your team around key details.
New Insight: Ensure Proper Titling of Revocable Trust Assets
A new AI-generated Insight now prompts advisors to confirm whether personal assets — like bank accounts, real estate, or heirlooms — are properly titled in the client’s revocable trust. This check helps prevent probate delays and ensures asset ownership aligns with the broader estate plan. The Insight appears across all client profiles and supports more proactive, planning-focused conversations.
Flexible Entity Presentation in Client Slides
We’ve enhanced the Entities List slide to give you greater flexibility in how you present client structures. Now, you can reorder entities, create multiple versions of the slide, selectively hide entities, and remove summary metrics as needed. These improvements make it easier to tailor deliverables to each client’s planning context and keep presentations focused and clear.
