This month's release is headlined by a rebuilt AI suggestion engine that delivers significantly more accurate results, especially for dispositive provisions, complex beneficiaries, and sub-trusts. The estate waterfall now models property held in non-resident states, Estate360 diagrams and presentations are more customizable, and a refreshed visual design brings a lighter, more polished look across the app. Plus: Luminary is a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Wealthies, and our latest blog post breaks down why state inheritance tax is so hard to get right.

AI Suggestions, Entirely Rebuilt to Deliver Improved Accuracy

We've rebuilt how Luminary's AI suggestions are generated, delivering significantly more accurate results, especially for dispositive provisions, complex beneficiary structures, and sub-trusts.

When an advisor uploads a household's estate documents, Luminary's AI reads them and suggests the people, entities, and dispositive provisions that make up the plan. With this release, those suggestions are built on a complete, connected understanding of the household: how every person, entity, and provision relates to one another across all of the documents. The result is a substantial, measurable increase in accuracy across the board, with the largest gains in the areas that matter most for complex plans, including dispositive provisions and intricate beneficiary structures with power of appointment details.

The rebuilt suggestion engine also expands what the AI can do:

  • Sub-trust suggestions: Entity detail suggestions now extend to sub-trusts, so layered trust structures are captured automatically.
  • Regeneration on demand: Refresh suggestions at the household, entity, sub-trust, or individual provision level whenever documents change.
  • Explainable suggestions: New tooltips show the rationale behind each person, entity, and recipient suggestion, so advisors can verify the AI's reasoning at a glance.

Together, these improvements make onboarding a household faster and more reliable: with AI you can trust with the details, not just the first draft, so advisors can spend less time on data entry and more time on what’s important.

Estate Tax Modeling for Non-Resident Property

Luminary's estate waterfall now accounts for real estate, personal property, and collectibles held in non-resident states. Simply mark an asset's situs, and Luminary applies that state's specific calculation method (fractional apportionment, direct exclusion, or credit) so the waterfall reflects a client's true multi-state estate tax exposure.

IdP-Initiated Single Sign-On for Organizations

Luminary now supports IdP-initiated login, so users can launch Luminary directly from their identity provider and land in the right tenant within their organization. It's one more way Luminary fits into the security and access workflows enterprise teams already rely on.

Estate360 Diagrams and Presentations, Your Way

Estate360 diagrams are now more customizable than ever: resize nodes, switch icons to tiles, add notes, edit labels, and undo changes as you refine the view. You can also add AI-generated pages to presentation templates and one-off presentations, with a reorganized, searchable page chooser that makes finding the right slide quick.

A Refreshed Look Across Luminary

Luminary has a new visual design: lighter navigation and backgrounds that make your content the focus, sharper visual hierarchy, and improved legibility throughout. Client logos also display more crisply, so every presentation and screen share feels polished and on-brand.

In Case You Missed It: Why State Inheritance Tax Is So Hard to Get Right

Five states impose an inheritance tax, and calculating it accurately requires beneficiary-level data, circular tax calculations, and constantly updated rule sets. In our latest blog post, Julia Kosinski, J.D., LL.M., Luminary's Head of Customer Solutions, breaks down why general-purpose AI tools fall short here and what it takes to model inheritance tax as part of a complete estate plan.
